Rs. 10 m to develop J’Pura University

It was decided at the first executive committee meeting of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura Alumni Association to raise Rs. 10 million to develop the University and the Alumni Association.

Immediately after the announcement of the fund Rs. 2.9 million was donated by the executive committee members including Mahinda Wijesekera, Bandula Gunawardena, S. B. Dissanayaka and Abeyratna Bandara.

President of the Alumni Association, Post and Telecommunication Minister Mahinda Wijesekera said that the university alumni should work for the development of the society and the progress of the university.

He said that the university education system needs reforms to suit the present and future national requirements. The golden jubilee of the university falls next February and the activities proposed by the university administration to mark the silver jubilee were discussed at the meeting.
