Police in easy win over Army
RUGBY: Sri Lanka Police Sports Club cruised to their fourth
victory this season when they outplayed Sri Lanka Army Sports Club by 22
points to 6 points in their Caltex inter club 'A' division league rugby
tournament first round fixture worked off at the Police Park yesterday.
Police SC collected their points from two goals, one try and one
penalty after having taken a close 8-3 lead at half time. Army SC
managed to put over just two penalties.
Police SC went ahead shortly after the kick off with Gemunu
Indrachapa going over for a superb try. Wijeweera missed the conversion
but later he made amends with a neat 25 metre penalty.
Police SC completely dominated the second half and added 14 points to
their tally in the form of two goals without conceding any points to
their opponents.
Pradeep Wilson sliced through the Army SC defence before adding the
finishing touches near the corner flag with Wijeweera adding the extra
points.
Nilusha Fernando then put the issue beyond doubt for Police SC while
scoring their third try of the match shortly before the final whistle.
Wijeweera again made no mistake with the conversion and Police SC ran
out easy winners 22-6. (C.D). |
