By Shamseer Jaleel reporting from Kandy
St. Anthony's Katugastota started their taste of winning when they
trounced Vidyartha College by 34 points (3 goals, 2 tries, 1 penalty) to
11 points (2 penalties, 1 try) at Nittawela Rugby Stadium yesterday.
With this win Antonians will move to number 8 position in the League.
At half time the winners led 10-8.
For Anthony's skipper Chanaka Gunaratne (2), Imad Riyal, Kelum
Manapperuma and Dilan Ranawanagedera scored the tries. Kick at goal and
conversion was taken by Imad Riyal.
For Vidyartha, C. Thilakaratne scored the try and penalty conversions
were taken by M. Wijeratne. With the schools section of the Sri Lanka
Rugby deciding to demote three teams from the top division remain as a
big question as none of the Tournament Committee members have approved.
According to reliable sources this should pass through the committee.
Antonians will meet the Rajans on June 21 at Nittawela which will be the
last league game for both the schools.
