Big prize money at SSC Badminton Tourney

BADMINTON: Singhalese Sports Club Open Badminton Tournament is on and goes on till 22 June at the club courts at Maitland Place. This is a national ranking tournament and over 650 entries have been received.

There is big prize money to be won - the highest for any tournament in Sri Lanka.

CRICKET: Ecole International, Kandy beat Royal International, Matale by 2 wickets in their inaugural limited-over under 13 cricket encounter played at the Bernard Aluwihare Stadium, Matale recently.

ROYAL INTERNATIONAL: 106 all out. Gihan Herath 19, M. B. Basith 12, Lilanka Hulangamuwa 4 for 26, Asif Salim 1 for 14; M. Ifthikar 2 for 24.

ECOLE INTERNATIONAL: 108 for 8 wickets. Buwaneka Withanage 17, Ravisha Rajapaksha 15, Zakan Niyar 11, S. Isuru 2 for 22, Gihan Herath 2 for 14, M. Rijath 2 for 17.
