Heavy rains expected next month

The inter-monsoonal rainfall has been activated in Sri Lanka. There will be more rainfall by the end of May, said Deputy Director of the Meteorological Department S. R. Jayasekara.

According to Jayasekara the inter monsoonal rainfalls have been activated. Thunder showers will develop at several places during the after noon or in the evening.

Rain and thunder will take place in several parts of the country in the morning.

Due to low level disturbances thunder storms and shower will be enhanced resulting in heavy rains in the evening in all part of the country. A meteorological Department spokesman said there is adequate rainfall in catchment area.

A spokesman of the ceylon electricity Board said although there is rain in the reservoir areas it is not enough to fill them.
