CBL records over 18% growth

The Annual Distributor Convention and Star Awards Presentation ceremony of the Ceylon Biscuits Ltd (CBL) was held recently at the BMICH amidst a large gathering including the Board of Directors, Overseas representatives, Field Sales Personnel, Distributors and Business Partners.


Kosala Bandara Weerakoon Company’s Kuliyapitiya Sales Representative receiving the prestigious CBL Star award as the most outstanding Sales Representative of the company for the year 2008/9 at the Annual Distribution convention. from M.P. Wickramasingha, Chairman of CBL group.

At this event the performances of the last financial year was reviewed and it was revealed that CBL as a group had achieved a growth of over 18 per cent during the financial year 2008/09 despite of numerous challenges present both globally and locally.

All product ranges marketed by CBL have recorded a substantial growth as illustrated in respective Sales Mangers' presentations. Having successfully gone through one of the most challenging years, the Munchee Biscuits range has produced a growth of 10.6 percent as against the previous year while the growth achieved by Samaposha range is 22 percent. In comparison to the previous years' performance, Lankasoy brand of Soya products has achieved an impressive growth of 49 percent. Ritzbury Chocolate range has recorded a growth of 25.8 percent and the 45.6 percent growth in Tiara Cakes is remarkable during the 2008/9 financial year.

6. Kosala Bandara won the Senior Star Award of the B range which comprises Sales Team handling Munchee biscuits sales. Meanwhile the Senior Star award of the A range was awarded to Jagath Kumarasiri , Sales Representative Totalanga, for his outstanding performance in Ritzbury and Tiara sales. Duminda Roshan Lankasoy and Samaposha Sales Representative in Badulla was the recipient of Senior Star Award of the C range.

The Corporate Social Responsibility activities of the company such as Tikiri Shishyadhara, Munchee Samaga Punchi Tharaka, Munchee Samaga Ridee Reyak and Munchee National Volleyball Championship were also showcased at the CBL distributor convention. This year's highlight was to award Munchee Tikiri Shishaydara for children of those soldiers disabled and died in action as a symbol of respect for the sacrifices made by the armed forces. The Presidential Secretariat assisted the company by providing the information about those needy children.

Commonwealth youth gold medalist Shehan Ambeypitiya was at the CBL Distributor Convention to support the company's CSR presentation.

His pledge to win a medal for Sri Lanka at the next Olympic games,s received a warm welcome from the audience.

Ambeypitiya thanked the CBL for identifying him several years ago and extending a helping hand to him without considering any commercial gain.

Adding more colours to the event, twelve new products were also launched under different brands and these products are expected to contribute towards the growth of company's business activities during the current financial year.

CBL also announced "Extreme Focus" as its theme for the financial year 2009/10. It is customary for the Ceylon Biscuits Limited to declare a theme for every financial year and everybody in the organization ensures the achievement of it.
