Of a grave you never knew

Winds seem so chillier than ever
A Coldness going through my bones
As if death is about to knock at my door
I remember a graveyard and of your grave
In another place and in another time

A brave solider you were
Fighting courageously in the battlefield
Travelling through sun and rain
Lying on mud and rolling over stones
Trying to bring peace to a land,
That never knew even the meaning of it at all

For a better future, a future so uncertain
You sacrificed your life
A young life that was blooming in spring died.
But the memories of you still linger
In my heart you will always live
I will tell my children and my grandchildren
The story of you,
The story of the soldier,
Who sacrificed in life and also in death
Of who's grave that lies over yonder
In a place I cannot reach
I cannot place flowers nor can I light any candles
In memory of thee
You will always live in my heart and in my memory
Forever to stay

- Nisansala Dharmasena

Dedicated to all the soldiers who scarificed their lives for the Motherland and for a better world.

This is how my crush began. I got to know him through a phone call, when he attempted to make a query. Both of us were working for the same company. This made us very close, talking official matters and keeping our conversations lively. However, after nearly three months we lost contact with each other. On One fine Sunday I was working at the office when the thought of him suddenly crossed my mind.

I called him on his mobile, but he just wouldn't pick up.

So I called him again and again and again. It ended in 15 missed calls. He didn't know who I was, but he returned my calls. Gradually after some friendly arguments we started our friendship.

As our friendship was limited only to phone calls and as we have not seen each other we decided to meet up. We met up for few minutes. We hardly had time to express ourselves. The active conversations we had on the phone simply died out. When I saw him I was at a loss for words. It was like I was choking on my own tongue.

However, Just before I left the company we expressed our love towards each other but there was no point, we knew it was never meant to be, at least not in this life time, as there were so many barriers between us.

If you read this letter it will prove how much I love you.

Even though Love is blind my love for you is eternal. Until we meet again you're always my N.B.H. Love you forever, N.B.W.
