Navy assists Nagadeepa pilgrims

The SL Navy is assisting thousands of pilgrims visiting the
historical Nagapushani Amman Temple in the isle of Nagadeepa.
This is the first post-war religious festival to be held in the North
and according to Navy spokesman Capt. D.K.P. Dassanayake the Navy men
are all out to assist thousands of pilgrims sailing to Nagadeepa from
Jaffna. The festival commenced on June 23 and will end on July 7 with
the water cutting ceremony. The chariot festival will take place on July
6.
The Sri Lanka Navy having secured the islands of the Jaffna
peninsula, is assisting the devotees along with the Police. Navy
personnel are handling the transportation of people with safety measures
such as life jackets.
