GNs, State officers must serve in welfare centres

The Grama Niladaries and other State officers attached to the Divisional Secretariat offices staying in the welfare villages and welfare centres housing the displaced from the North have been directed by the Public Administration and Local Government Ministry to serve in the places where they are staying.

Salaries of those employees are being paid in the welfare villages and welfare centres where they are now housed in.

Public Administration and Local Government Ministry Secretary D. Dissanayake said that after restoring the civil administration in those areas the Grama Niladaries and other officers can recommence their services in their own regions.

He added that the most of the Grama Niladaries and Divisional Secretaries displaced from North are now staying in the welfare villages and welfare centres and they are conducting their services in those places.
