Azar Central 'B' and Pushpadana girls are baseketball champs

BASKET BALL: Pushpadana Girls College (girls) and Azar Central College `B' Akurana became champions at the Kandy Schools girls and boys basketball championship organised by the Kandy District Basketball Association and worked at Azar Basketball Courts at Akurana

In the girls schools final Pushpadana Girls College `B' beat Colombo International School, Kandy 30 points to 22 after leading 14-8 at the short break.

Pushpadana's sharp shooter Shalini Weerasinghe was adjudged the most outstanding player.

In the semi-finals, Pushpadana Girls College beat St. Anthonys Girls College 20 - 10 and Colombo International School beat Pushpadana Girls College `A' 11-6.

Azar Central boys champs

In the boys finals, Azar Central College `B' won over Azar Central College `A' by 23 points to 16.

At half-time, Azar `B' led 11-5.

S.M. Shafath of Azar Central `B' was adjudged the Most Outstanding player.

In the semi-finals, Azar Central `B' beat Trinity College 20 -16 and Azar Central `A' defeats Colombo International School `A' 17-12.
