Rathu Idda

Karunadasa Suriarachchi's latest Sinhala novel Rathu Idda will be launched at the Mahaweli Centre auditorium, Colombo 7 on May 11 at 3 p.m.

Suriarachchi is the author of several other novels such as Kanda Pamula, Andhakara Tharakava and Kalu Donkaraya.

The launching ceremony will be presided over by Ven. Agalakada Sirisumana.

The keynote address will be delivered by Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama. Prof. Dhammika Ganganath Dissanayake, Sunethra Rajakarunanayake and Nuvan Nayanajith Kumara will also address the gathering.

Rathu Idda is a Dayawansa Jayakody publication.

Vasantha Sri Wijayaratne's latest children's book Makara Mandire is an interesting story about a tortoise and a youth. It is based on a Japanese folk tale.

The book is published by Princess Publishers, Kalagedihena.

Sihina Mavanno

Siri Ediriweera's latest Sinhala novel Sihina Mavanno was launched at Dayawansa Jayakody Bookshop, Colombo 10, on May 3.

Ediriweera is the author of Veven Upanniya, Kasavatha, Lovin Ekek, Bhavayen Bhavayata and Oedipus.

Sihina Mavanno is a Dayawansa Jayakody publication.


The Best of Malini and Namel Weeramuni on "Celeb Chat"

Thespian couple Malini and Namel Weeramuni share their love for the theatre with host Kumar de Silva on 'Celeb Chat' at 9.30 pm on Monday May 09 on CSN.

Sri Lankan audiences will remember their memorable performances in the 1983 “Ratagiya Attho” (Expatriates) whose 26 episodes were much talked about even years later.


Suddek Oba Amthai at Elphinstone

Suddek Oba Amathai (A white man addresses you), arguably one of the most innovative theatre experiments in recent times will be staged on May 11, at Elphinsten Theatre, Maradana at 3.30 and 6.30 pm.

The play features exceptional performances of Jayalath Manoratne, Nalin Pradeep Udawelage and Madani Malwattage. Music is provided by Lalith Wickramaratne. Rohan Samaradiwakara is in charge of the set while Ranga Samarakoon handles lights.

The play is written by well-known author and columnist, Udayasiri WIckramaratne while the production is managed by Susil Wickramasinghe. The theme for the performance will be consistent with the spirit of May:Brown Sahibs of the world unite ! You have nothing to lose but your skin tone.
