Lanka not perturbed by Tiger sympathisers’ moves
Sri Lanka is not perturbed by the fact that the
EU Court has agreed to take up a petition by a group of LTTE
sympathisers seeking a revision of the outfit being labelling as a
terrorist group. A senior official at the Foreign Ministry said the
Sri Lankan mission in the EU was closely monitoring the developments

All UK deportees now in their homes in Lanka
Sri Lanka Police have found no criminal charges
against the asylum-seekers who were deported from the United Kingdom
on June 16. According to the Police, the team comprised 26 people of
whom four were Sinhalese, seven Muslims and 15 Tamils.

Grim prospects for asylum-seekers
The 26 deportees from UK have already returned
home by yesterday. Sri Lanka Police have found no criminal charges
against them, Police spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody said.
According to the Police the group comprises four Sinhalese, seven
Muslims and fifteen Tamils. Among the Tamils two were women. They
were not arrested by the Police or questioned by the Criminal
Investigation Division but only a background check-up was done in
keeping with the formalities, the police spokesman said.
