Navy expresses concerned over unsubstantiat allegations

Sri Lanka Navy yesterday expressed its deep concern over unsubstantiated allegations raised from time to time accusing it of harassing Indian fishermen without a credible evidence to prove Navy involvement in those incidents.

Navy Spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya said that most of the incidents have been found to be mere hearsay and accusations based on ill intentions aimed at straining the good relations between Sri Lanka and India. "Contrary to these allegations of harassing Indian fishermen, on numerous occasions, the Navy has come to the rescue of Indian fishermen in distress, Commander Warnakulasuriya added. (RW)
