Work on Moragolla power project in 2014

Construction work on the Moragolla hydropower project is likely to commence in 2014. The power plant will have a capacity of 30 MW.

The total cost of the project is estimated at approximately USD 90 million.

The Asian Development Bank is expected to provide the loan for the project.

A feasibility study has already been completed for the construction of the plant. A detailed design of the plant will be made immediately. Another 49 MW Broadlands hydropower project is due to begin work soon with financial assistance from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and the People’s Bank.
