National transportation system to be upgraded

The national transportation system will be converted in to an integrated inter model system, said Transport Ministry Secretary Dhammika Perera.

Addressing an international conference on ‘Advances in Highway Engineering and Transportation Systems’ held in Colombo, the Secretary said the national transportation system can economically move anyone and anything on time.

‘‘The safety, security, efficiency and reliability of Sri Lanka’s passenger transport system and its infrastructure will be upgraded to world class standards. Consequently, time and fuel waste will be less in traffic jams’’ he said.
