Dhamma School Day on August 3

The 116th Dhamma School Day commemoration ceremony will be held on Wednesday at the National Heritage Centre in Gampola under the patronage of Most Venerable Malwatte and Asgiriya Mahanayaka Theras and Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratna.

Two-year ‘Sisu Saviya’ scholarships will be presented at this ceremony for 125 selected students in the Ampara district while teachers will be granted uniforms and a library allowance of Rs. 2,000.

A program will be launched to develop 2,600 Dhamma Schools to mark the 2600th Buddha Jayanthi, starting from the Kandy district. Each Dhamma School will be granted Rs.150,000 under this program.
