Agro Exhibition and Trade Fair 2012 from April 5-7
The Ampara agro exhibition and trade fair 2012 will be held at Ampara
Urban Council grounds from April 5-7. The exhibition is organised by
Ampara District Chamber of Commerce and Industries with the national
strategic partner Small and Medium Enterprise Developers (SMED) of
FCCISL.
The objectives of the exhibition and trade fair are to provide
exposure for agro communities in appropriate agro and livestock
technology, support services, provide linkages in financial services,
marketing and insurance. It will also open an opportunity to local
community to enjoy the special benefits in the purchases during the
Sinhala and Hindu new year season, the organisers said.
New technology, machinery and equipment such as agri processing
equipment, dairy machinery and supplies, food processing equipment and
supplies, post harvest technology, fertiliser, seeds and organic
agriculture will be introduced to the farmer community at the
exhibition.
The organisers anticipate over 100 stalls at the exhibition to
attract over 10,000 people from Ampara, Batticaloa and the surrounding
districts. Concurrent to the trade fair, a SME forum will be held on
April 6 and a job fair has been organised on April 7. This initiative
comes under Socio Economic Development for Conflict Affected Communities
of North and the East Sri Lanka project funded by the EU and implemented
by Oxfam GB where FCCISL is the key private sector partner of the
project.The FCCISL has identified this component of the project as
Chamber Network Engagement in Economic Rehabilitation (CHEER).
