Nav Pratibha 2012
Nav Pratibha 2012, a presentation of a variety of musical and dance
recitals, the ICC’s annual flagship event, will be held on March 14, at
6 p.m. at Bishop’s College Auditorium, Perahera Mawatha, Colombo 3.
The performances will be by the students of Indian Cultural Centre,
Colombo trained by eminent teachers and artistes of Sri Lanka.
The students who trained under Moksha Samarasooriya will present
Kathak dance and the students who learnt Bharata Natyam under Kalasuri
Vasugy Jegatheeswaran and Subhashini Pathmanathan will be showcasing
their talents in Bharata Natyam.
The vocal music in Carnatic style will be rendered by the students of
Kalasuri Arunthathy Sri Renganathan and those who studied under Dr.
Premadasa Mudunkotuwa will be singing music in Hindustani style.
A number of students who are being trained by Dr. Nirmala Kumari
Rodrigo will be performing on Sitar while the students of Visharad
Somasiri Illesinghe present their musical ability through Violin in
Hindustani style. The presentation of percussion in Tabla will be
presented by the students who learnt Tabla under S.W Randoowa.
The performances in Nav Pratibha will be orchestrated as a variety
program in which every student of the centre could express his or her
inherent talent in a creative manner.
Ghazal recital
The Ghazal recital by Dr. Kumud Diwan will be held on March 19 at
6.00 p.m. at the Kularathne Hall, Ananda College, Colombo – 10. Dr.Kumud
Diwan will be accompanied on Tabla by Shri Harshad Kanetkar and
Harmonium by Shri Milind Kulkarni and on Sarangi by Shri Farooque
Lateef.
Literary works for Godage National Literary Awards
Godage Publishers calls upon the writers in Sinhala, English and
Tamil to submit their works (3 copies of each work) published during
2011 for the forthcoming Godage National Literary Awards 2012, on or
before March 31.
The 14th Godage National Awards will present a host of
awards for the best novel, collection of short stories, collection of
poetry and a life-time achievement award for literati in English,
Sinhala and Tamil.
Nirmanika: Beauty of Architecture : Sri Lanka Tour 2012
A performance by Nirmanika, by Apsaras Arts Singapore presented by
Aru Sri Art Theatre, Sri Lanka with the support of the National Arts
Council, Singapore, Ministry of Arts and Culture, Sri Lanka, will be
held on March 17 at 6pm at the New Kathiresan Hall,339 Galle Road,
Colombo 4.
Aru Sri Art Theatre, Sri Lanka presents Nirmanika – Sri Lanka Tour
2012 by Apsaras Arts, Singapore. Architecture and dance, albeit are two
very different disciplines, share commonalities in process and creation. |
