Import time limit changed

The import time limit for commercial vehicles has been reduced from five to four years and for cars two years .


 


New WB President

US nominee Korean American Jim Yong Kim has been chosen as the new World Bank President. He will assume duties on July 1 and will succeed Robert Zoellick.

 


Ten percent price band lifted

The 299th Commission Meeting of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) decided to direct the Colombo Stock Exchange to lift the 10 percent price band imposed on all listed securities with immediate effect.

The SEC will evaluate the behaviour of the market and the price band will be re-imposed in future if the situation so warrants.


Maliban receives OHSAS certificate

Maliban Biscuit Manufactories (Pvt) Limited, is the first Biscuit Manufacturing Organisation to receive the OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health and Safety Management System from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI).

The Certificate was presented to Maliban Biscuit Manufactories (Pvt) Limited by, Director General of Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) Dr. Lalith Senaweera.

Chairman of Maliban, Ratnapala Samaraweera, said that they obtained this OHSAS certification to highlight their concern and commitment in the promotion of occupational health and safety of their employees.


Club Hotel Dolphin wins Holiday Check Award

Club Hotel Dolphin, Waikkal, won the Holiday Check Award 2012. It is one of the 99 most popular hotels worldwide and has also won an award in the Beach Holiday category.

The Hotel is managed by Serendib Leisure Management, a subsidiary of the diversified Hemas Group of Companies.

Serendib Leisure Management Limited Managing Director, Ranil de Silva said ,“We are delighted to be awarded the Holiday Check 2012 and Holiday Check Top Hotel prize”.


NDB opens branch in Embilipitiya
