Several new guest houses and modern buildings have come up in Kataragama to cater to the massive influx of pilgrims, no one in authority seems to be concerned of the cemetery which is going to ruin day by day. The final resting place is not maintained properly by the authorities, which overgrown with weeds.

Too many tombs stones leave hardly any room to bury the recent dead.

The parapet wall has collapsed at several places and the cemetery has become a paradise for stray cattle. To crown it all the cemetery does not have a gate. The residents have appealed to the Kataragama Pradeshiya Sabha to do the needful. Text and
