Lanka, Iran to boost cooperation
Iranian Economy Minister Seyed Shamseddin Hosseini and Sri Lanka’s
Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa stressed Iran’s and Sri
Lanka’s willingness to further boost mutual cooperation.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of semi-annual meetings of the
International Monetary Fund and World Bank in Washington on Friday.The
two officials discussed international and bilateral affairs, emphasizing
the importance of boosting economic relations and in particular the
private sectors of the two countries.
”Iran is ready to develop Sri Lanka’s infrastructure, Hosseini
said.Rajapaksa, for his part, thanked the Iranian technical assistance
and called for development of technical cooperation between the Iranian
and Sri Lankan companies.Iran and Sri Lanka have had diplomatic
relations since 1961.
