Memorial oration
A memorial oration to mark the first anniversary of the death of Dr.
K. Balasubramaniam, one of Sri Lanka's leading patients' rights
activists will be delivered by Dr. Joel Fernando of the Past Graduate
Institute of Medicine (PGIM) and a long-time colleague of Dr.
Balasubramaniam on April 29 at 10 a.m. at the CSR Hall, Fatima Church
premises, Deans Road, Maradana.
The event is organised by the People's Movement for the Rights of
Patients (PMRP).
Dr. Fernando will speak on 'Healthcare Financing.'
Appeal from kidney patient
Miss Thanuja Sandamalee Karunanayake of 70/C/1, Kahalla Road,
Katugastota is suffering from a chronic kidney ailment.
Consultant Nephrologist of the General Hospital, Kandy Dr. Nishantha
Nanayakkara has recommended immediate kidney transplant (B positive) to
save her life. The cost of the surgery and the post-operative care will
cost around Rs. 600,000. She appeals to the generous public to raise the
funds.

Chandana Karunadasa Wijekoon (50) of Wekada, Panadura is suffering
from a severe kidney ailment. Dr. Chula Herath, Consultant Nephrologist
of the Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital has advised immediate kidney
