Nawaloka Metropolis opens laboratory

Chairman Nawaloka Hospitals PLC and Chairman, Metropolis Health Services, Mumbai, India Dr. Sushil Shah recently opened the Nawaloka Metropolis Molecular Biology and Research Laboratory at Slave Island, Colombo 2. This unit is a part of Nawaloka Metropolis Laboratories (Pvt) Ltd.

The Molecular Biology and Genetics Research Unit was set up a year ago to diagnose difficult bacteria and viral pathogens using technologies such as PCR, FISH and FLOW Cytometry.

This Laboratory is the first Molecular and Genetics Research Diagnostic Laboratory in Sri Lanka. MD and CEO Metropolis Health Services, Mumbai, India, Ameera Shah, Director and General Manager Nawaloka Hospitals PLC,Prof. Lal Chandrasena, Directors of the Nawaloka Hospitals PLC Head, Nawaloka Metropolis Molecular and Genetic Research Laboratory Messrs Harshith Dharmadasa,Givantha Dharmadasa and Prof. Preethi Udagama. Country Head, Nawaloka Metropolis Laboratories (Pvt) Ltd, Devendrasinghe Rajput – Senior Scientific Officer, Nawaloka Metropolis Molecular Biology and Genetics Research Laboratory N. Shanmuganathan also participated.
