Hitachi launches HUS

Hitachi Ltd has identified Sri Lanka as a high growth market in the region.

MD, Asean Emerging markets and Indonesia Hitachi Data systems (Pte) Ltd Terrance Maximus Tangit said that Sri Lanka adopts new technology fast and Hitachi is well-known in Sri Lanka. He said that they have a good customer base and added that strategy is built upon discussion and the feed back they get.

Tangit said that there is human driven data e.g. e-mailed machine driven data such as cameras and sensors.

According to IDC statistics Hitachi and two other companies offer reliable data storage systems.

He said that 82 percent of the Fortune 500 companies use Hitachi data storage systems. "Hitachi is re-defining data systems with the launch and we are the first and only vendor to sell various data systems", said Director platforms and Solutions, Saravanan Krishnan.

Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd recently redefined unified storage with the new Hitachi Unified Storage (HUS) and single management framework.

Now available in Sri Lanka, HUS stores multiple data types with flexibility and balanced scalability than any other midrange solution. It helps customers manage their critical business applications and meet growth requirements without compromising performance, scalability or cost efficiency.

Hitachi Data Systems also said that its entire hardware product portfolio, including the new HUS, will be supported by Hitachi Command Suite management software.

As the first enterprise-class vendor to provide a single software management platform for all of its products, Hitachi Data Systems is helping its customers reduce costs and complexity throughout the data centre.

MD, Terrance Maximus Tangit said data was the foundation of any organisation. The roots of current unified storage products in the market are based on the needs of smaller organisations that did not have the storage volumes, IT resources or budgets to acquire and manage separate platforms for block and file data.

The traditional definition for unified management has focused on managing file and block on these general-purpose lower-end storage platforms.

This all changes today as we bring to market the first enterprise-class unified storage solution to help our customers in Sri Lanka and around the world manage their data, reduce costs and gear for growth. Hitachi Unified Storage helps organisations meet application availability and performance requirements with lower investment.

Customers can deploy storage for all data types and easily grow to meet expanding requirements, while still meeting service level objectives for critical business applications."
