Sumathipala's note of gratitude to German envoy

"While appreciating the recognition of UN Security Council mandate to end the recruitment and use of children in armed conflict, I would like to remind you the efforts and sacrifices we all Sri Lankans have made to achieve peace, specially at the UN Human Rights Council has to be respected with appreciation, said Sri Lanka-German Parliamentary Friendship Association Secretary MP Thilanga Sumathipala in a letter to German Ambassador to Sri Lanka Jens Plotmer.

He said that it was the LTTE that used children for armed violence.

As such, the successful conclusion of the brutal war by the state against the terrorist group ensured that children of Sri Lanka will not be engaged in armed conflict now or in the future.
