A series of events organised by the Kotikawatte- Mulleriyawa Pradeshiya Sabha was held to commemorate
the birthday of Chairman Prasanna Gunasinghe Solangaarachchi on Friday. The event included planting 1,000 jak saplings, meals to inmates at the Angoda Mental Hospital and a Bodhi Pooja and Pahan Pooja pinkama at Kithsirimewan Kelaniya Temple. Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa presented a cheque for Rs. 100,000 to the widow of the State Engineering Corporation employee S. D. Ruwan Kumara who died following an accident recently. The money is to repair her house and purchase a three-wheeler as a source of livelihood. Corporation Chairman Jagath Perera, Working Director Mohamed Muzamil, General Manager M. R. Jayachandran, Deputy GMs S. T. Lokuhannadige and Bandula Abeyratne were also present.

Matota, Pavura, an assembly of top notch personalities of the Matara district was held at the Matara Maha Vidyalaya, under the patronage of Youth Affairs and Skills Development Minister, Dullas Alahapperuma recently. The members of the Maha Sangha, Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene, Colombo University Political Science Senior lecturer, Dhamma Dissanayake, Rupavahini Corporation Chairman Mohan Samaranayake and Matara District Secretary A.K.K.
