Handsome awards on offer at Princess Veterans vs Java Lane soccer final today

FOOTBALL: Maligawatte Princess Veterans SC and Java Lane Veterans will meet in the final of the Islandwide Eleven-a-Side (Over 40) soccer final conducted by the Sri Lanka Soccer Masters' Association at Campbell Park today (June 24) at 3.30 pm.

The tournament is sponsored by the President of the Sri Lanka Soccer Masters Association Tilak Pieris for the fourth successive year. 24 teams participated in the preliminary round matches and Princess Veterans SC, Maligawatte and Java Lane Veterans qualified to play in the final. Valuable cash prizes are on offer for the winners and they will receive Rs. 50,000 and the Tilak Pieris Challenge Trophy and the runner-up will be presented with Rs. 25,000 and a trophy. In addition there are cash prizes for Best Player Rs. 7,500 and best Goal Keeper Rs. 7,500.

Retired Senior Superintendent of Police Sunil Perera, a former soccer player and presently Senior Manager, Ceylinco Life who is also a founder member of the SMA will be the chief guest.
