The national service provider, Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel will assist
the National Child Protection Association (NCPA) to protect children. A
number of projects will be undertaken by Mobitel to develop the NCPA to
achieve its vision of creating a child-friendly and protective
environment for children. Mobitel will work closely with the NCPA
towards strengthening their call centre via training programs and
infrastructure upgrade.
Mobitel will carry out several fund-raising initiatives on behalf of
the NCPA, which will help set up 'safe houses' aimed at ensuring the
security of child witnesses and abused children.
"It is important that we protect our children and their rights.
We are responsible for their protection and development and we must
ensure that they are able to achieve their fullest potential.
We, at Mobitel, have taken it upon ourselves to go over and beyond
our mandate of being the National Mobile Service Provider, fulfilling
our brand promise of 'We Care. Always' - lending our fullest support to
the NCPA towards achieving its vision. This CSR project is of utmost
importance to us and falls in line with our mission to 'Care, Share and
Deliver'" said Chairman Mobitel, Nimal Welgama.
Chairperson NCPA, Mrs. Anoma Dissanayake said, "It is truly
heartening to see a corporate giant such as Mobitel take the initiative
to reach out to the community.
The projects that Mobitel will carry out with us will strengthen and
develop our staff, our program, helping us to work towards eradicating
child abuse in Sri Lanka, while giving our children a childhood that
they can be proud of."
