Ravindra Ariyaratne's Balloth Ekka Be will be staged at the YMBA,
Borella on October 6 at 3.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.
The cast includes Wijaya Nandasiri, Kumara Thirimadura, Roshan
Pilapitiya, Gihan Fernando and Anusha Dissanayaka.
Tharavo Igilethi at Namel-Malini Punchi Theatre

Lucian Bulathsinhala's popular drama Tharavo Igilethi will be staged
at the Namel -Malini Punchi Theatre, Colombo 8 on October 5 at 3.30 p.m.
and 6.45 p.m.
The cast includes Rodni Warnakula, Gamini Samarakoon, Harsha
Bulathsinhala, Niroshan Wijesinghe, Piumi Shanika, Ferni Roshini and
Anura Bandara Rajaguru.
Italian-Sri Lankan film festival
The Italian Sri Lankan Film Festival will be held from October 19 -21
at Cine City , Maradana.
The festival is organised by the Italian Embassy in Sri Lanka in
collaboration with Cine City, sponsored by Sri- Lankan Airlines, Colombo
Courtyard Hotel and National Film Corporation of Sri Lanka. The aim of
the festival is to raise awareness of and promote Italian and Sri Lankan
cinema in a spirit of freedom and tolerance. The theme of the festival
is "Migration and beyond".
October 19: (Morning) a movie by Michelangelo Antonioni, (Evening)
Paola Randi will present an introduction to Into Paradiso South Asian
film premier. October 20: (Morning) Boodee Keerthisena will present his
movie with an introduction, (Evening) Italian short film to be screened
with an introduction by Stefano Martina.
October 21: (Morning) Workshop for the short filmmakers of Sri Lanka
with Paola Randi and Stefano Martina. (Evening) Screening of the Sri
Lankan short films followed by an award ceremony for the best three
short films.
Sri Lankan filmmaker Boodee Keerthisena is coordinating the festival
on behalf of the Italian Ambassador Fabricio Pio Arpea and the deputy of
the mission Gianluca. Rubagotti.
Char- Adhyaya

Char- Adhyaya, the annual art festival to celebrate the 150th birth
anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, an exhibition of painting and
cultural program will be held from October 15-17 at the National Art
Gallery.
The cultural program will be held at on October 15 at the John de
Silva Memorial Theatre. Char-Adhyaya is held under the auspices of
India-Sri Lanka Foundation, High Commissioner of India and SAARC
Cultural Centre. The festival is organised by Shantiniketan Friends, an
alumni of Santiniketan students.
The highlights of the cultural program include Rabindra Sangeet, Sri
Lankan fusion songs, Manipuri dance recitals and fusion music based on
Sarod and Esraj. The repertoire of musicians who participate in the
program includes Sri Yaikhom Hemant Kumar, Sri Buddhadev Das, Sougata
Roy Chowdhury, Subhajit Brahmachari, Manoj Murali Nayar and Smt.

Asiki Gothrikayinge Ran Pilimaya

S. Chandrasiri Dassanayake's latest book Asiki Gothrikayinge Ran
Pilimaya' was launched at the International Book Exhibition, Dayawansa
Jayakody stalls on September 24.
It is the Sinhala translation of H. Rider Haggard's The Yellow God -
an Idol of Africa.
Asiki Gothrikayinge Ran Pilimaya is a Dayawansa Jayakody publication.
Anupavam- Natya Utsavam

Anupavam -Natya Utsavam , an evening of dance by Aru Sri Art Theatre
and the launch of a DVD by the dancers of the theatre will be held on
October 19 at 6.15 pm at the Ramakrishna Mission Hall, Wellawatte ,
Colombo 6.
Professional and versatile dancers of the theatre will present
classical, folk and contemporary dances. The Highlight of the evening
will be an episode from Ramayana Sri Ram - Dance Drama. Dance maestros
who have collaborated with the theatre since its conception , Channa
Wijewardena, Ravibandu Vidyapathi, Chandana Wickramasinghe and Geeth De
silva will present dances collaborating with the theatre dancers.
Anupavam -Natya Utsavam is produced and directed by Deshanethru,
Kalasuri Arunthathy. Sri Ranganathan, the artistic director of the
theatre. Admission will be free. |
