Nimesha to receive electronic arm

Ten-year-old student of the Dehiowita Delo luwa Junior School, Rashmi
Nimesha, is to receive a specially designed electronic arm. Rashmi
Nimesha passed the year five scholarship examination scoring 153 marks
despite being born without both arms and a leg.
This was revealed at an event held yesterday at the Public Relations
and Public Affairs Ministry to assist Rashmi Nimesha’s education.
On a request of Public Relations and Public Affairs Minister Mervyn
Silva, ‘Touch Community’, a Sri Lankan charity organisation will be
coordinating the donation with the assistance of several well-wishers
from the United States of America. They will soon receive the electronic
arm from the USA. American and Sri Lankan well-wishers were also present
at the event.
“My friend wanted to help me personally, but what I want is to help
the people of my electorate and every citizen in need of help whenever
possible. Rashmi Nimesha’s achievement was exemplary and I was making
all possible effort to help her from the moment I heard about her,”
Minister Silva said. According to the Minister, the electronic arm is
worth about Rs. 300,000.
