The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Paris held 'Sri Lanka in Bloom', an
international photographic exhibition arranged by Media Director to the
President Sudath Silva last Friday.
The exhibition depicted Sri Lanka's experience in combating
terrorism, the ongoing development activities in the North and the East
and the beauty of the island.Following the lighting of the traditional
oil lamp, Ambassador Dayan Jayatilleka spoke to diplomats,
representatives of the corporate sector and members of the Sri Lankan
expatriate community in Paris.
"We are relieved, pleased and grateful that we have overcome the
terrible challenges of 30 years of separatist terrorism. We are grateful
to our citizens, our Armed Forces and our leaders. However, as a
society, as a country, as a State, as peoples, we have now moved on to
the challenges of reconciliation and building a sustainable peace," said
Dr. Jayatilleka.
