Cargills reaches out to flood victims
Cargills Food City helped recent victims of the inclement weather in
the Hambantota, Batticaloa and Puttalam districts.
In coordination with the regional offices of the National Disaster
Management Centre and Divisional Secretariats, Cargills Food City team
members volunteered to distribute ration packs among victims.
Chief Operating Officer, Cargills-Retail, Sidath Kodikara said the
initiative comes as part of the Cargills corporate ethos of supporting
and empowering the local community.
"Cargills Food City is a part of the local community it operates in,
providing employment, developing infrastructure and empowering local
suppliers and farmers through our outlets islandwide."
"So at a time of great disaster it is only natural for our local
branches to step out of their outlets to support and assist the
community in need.
We are conscious that it is the community that helps us build a
sustainable business and it is our duty to help them," he said.
