One million households connected through Megaline

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), the national telecommunications service provider, has registered its one millionth customer, that's one million fixed lines connecting one million families, i.e. over 4.5 million people across the island. One million active fixed-line users.

SLT Megaline's selling point of Triple Play capabilities offer customers. Depending on customer preference, they can subscribe to Single Play (telephone only), Double Play (telephone and Broadband or PEO TV) or Triple Play (telephone, Broadband and PEO TV).

"Sri Lanka Telecom has been empowering the nation for over 150 years, mainly through our fixed-line capacity," said Chief Executive Officer of SLT, Greg Young. "As a national icon, SLT is at the forefront of enhancing ICT throughout the island via our nationwide network modernisation project, 'i-Sri Lanka', in line with the Government's vision to take ICT to the more remote areas of the country.

Our achievement of reaching the one million mark on our Megaline subscriber base is therefore a significant milestone," he said.

Under the 'i-Sri Lanka' project, SLT is working on expanding and upgrading its network to provide SLT Megaline customers with the highest quality voice capabilities, and consistent and uninterrupted high speed internet and interactive television facilities across the country.

It will provide an ideal platform for private business networking, interactive entertainment, distance learning, online education, e-health and much more at superior speed, high quality and high reliability. 'i-Sri Lanka', brings access to SLT's PEOTV services by opening up a new dimension of visual entertainment to a larger audience.
