Thai Pongal at Jaffna NCE

The Jaffna National College of Education organised a cultural festival to celebrate Thai Pongal day, which is observed by Hindu farmers and generally Tamils to thank the Sun God. The ceremony was held at the Jaffna College of Education auditorium on January 14.

Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa and Governor of the Northern Province G.A. Chandrasiri were the chief guests. Mayoress of the Jaffna Municipal Council Y. Patkunarajah and Chairman, National Youth Services Council Lalith Pium Perera also participated in the ceremony. President of Jaffna College of Education S. Yoganathan headed the festival.
