Launch of 'Lifetime in Tourism'

Lifetime in Tourism, a memoir by a former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourist Board, H.M.S. Samaranayake will be launched on January 23 at the auditorium of the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management at Galle Road, Colombo 3. The book launch, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. will be in the presence of Senior Minister of International Monetray Cooperation and Deputy Minister of Finance Dr. Sarath Amunugama, the chief guest.

Other invitees will be Senior Minister of Human Resources and Chairman of the COPE, D.E.W. Gunesekera, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, former Secretary to the Ministry of Media, Lionel Fernando and Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority Bashwara Gunaratna.

Samaranayake has been an official of the Ceylon Tourist Board from its inception in 1966 up to the time of his premature retirement in 1988 to join the UNWTO Secretariat in Madrid, Spain as the Chief of Asia and the Pacific Section.
