First innings win for Mahinda

Mahinda College, Galle registered a 1st innings victory over
Dharmaraja College, Kandy in their 113th cricket encounter for the F. L.
Woodward Trophy concluded at the Lake View Grounds, Kandy yesterday
(19).
Mahinda scored 124 in their 1st innings and got the Rajans out for a
paltry 87 runs. Last year Dharmaraja registered an outright win in Galle
in their cricket match with the Mahindians.
Chandimal Silva scored 26, the highest score for Rajans. Chalan de
Silva bowled best for Mahinda when he took 3 wickets for 15 runs. In the
2nd innings Mahinda College scored 166 for 5 wickets at close.
Mahinda 1st innings 124 all out in 70.01 overs.
Mahinda 2nd innings 166 for 5 in 65 overs. (Chalana de Silva 49,
Niruwantha Theekshala 47, Chamith Kalhara 41. Aravinda Vithanachchi 2
for 44, Chalitha Lahiru 1 for 04).
Dharmaraja 1st innings 87 all out in 46.5 overs
(Chandimal Silva 26, Jayapadma Tennakoon 17, Pasindu Dilshan 3 for
21, Chalana de Silva 3 for 15, Subash Udayanga 3 for 10, Malith Mahela 2
for 6).
Dharmaraja POG Col. D. S. Abeygunasekera presented the F.L. Woodward
Challenge Trophy to Mahinda Captain Niruwantha Theekshala.
