Premier League Tournament:

SSC pile up 511 for 7

Test discard veteran Thilan Samaraweera scored a century in the SSC's 511 for 7 wickets against NCC on the second day played at SSC yesterday.

The 36-year-old Samaraweera, who has so far scored 310 runs with a 77.50 average in this domestic season, hit 111 runs with 11 fours and two sixes.

First day's century maker Dimuth Karunaratne got out for 116. In reply, NCC were three for 102 with unbeaten batsmen Dinesh Chandimal (47) and Angelo Perera (28) at the crease.

SSC: 511/7 decl. in 122 overs (Dimuth Karunaratne 116, Thilan Samaraweera 111, Tharanga Paranavithana 70, Sachithra Senanayake 47 n.o, Kaushal Silva 45, Tharindu Kaushal 2/98).

Ragama Cricket Club's openers Ian Daniel and Udara Jayasundara put on a record 309-run partnership against BRC at BRC grounds yesterday.

Daniel scored 162 with 16 fours and three sixes while Jayasundara made 139 runs with 15 fours and two sixes in reply for BRC's 367.

Ajantha strikes again

Sri Lanka Army SC's Ajantha Mendis picked up another seven wicket haul against Lankan CC, who were bowled for 200 runs at Panagoda yesterday.

Mendis topped as the leading wicket takers list, having captured 23 wickets so far.

Lankan CC: 200 in 44 overs (Sachithra Perera 39, Greg Smith 33, Rajeeva Weerasinghe 33, Deshan Dias 30, Ajantha Mendis 7/67, Seekkuge Prasanna 2/82) and 52/1 in 10.1 overs (Tharaka Waduge 37).

Colts skipper Angelo Mathews, who hit a fighting 63 runs on the first day, repeated an identical knock in the second innings as Colts lead by 278 runs against Moors at Colts grounds yesterday.

Panadura Sports Club's skipper Chamara Silva hammered 104 runs and steered his team towards a massive 368-run lead with five wickets in hand against Bloomfield in their premier league match played at the Bloomfield grounds yesterday.
