Old Rajans SC have it easy

Old Rajans Sports Club scored an easy 5-0 win over Young Men's Hindu Association in the opening match of the Inter Club Hockey Tournament organised by the Kandy District Hockey Association and played at the University grounds, Peradeniya yesterday. At half Old Rajans led 2-0.

Goal scorers for the Old Rajans were Dhanesha Ranaweera (2), Anushka Ranaweera (1), Raneel Dharmaratne (1) and S.P.V. Gunatunga (1).

Nadaraja Paraneetharan and Ajith Manjula umpired.

In the second match of the day Asgiriya Hockey Club beat Green Park Sports Club 2-0 after leading 1-0 at the breather.

Sounding the boards for Asgiriya Hockey Club were G.G. Dharmaratne (1) and Videsh Dissanayake (1).

Indika Jayawardena and M.A.M. Ashraff umpired.

In the tournament for Ladies, University of Peradeniya beat Young Stars Sports Club 2-0. All scoring was done in the first half.

The Undergrad Ladies first scored through a penalty converted by D.M. Nishamali who later scored a field goal.
