Fairy Tale:
Pinocchio
Gepetto was a poor carpenter who made his living by making puppets.
Once, he was carving a puppet out of wood in his workshop. Suddenly the
wood squealed, "Ouch! That hurt!"
The puppet was alive! Gepetto couldn't believe his eyes ... Was this
really true that the puppet he was making was living and was able to
understand Gepetto's feelings.
Gepetto named the puppet, Pinocchio. Pinocchio wanted to be like
other boys and go to school. Gepetto was a poor man and had no money to
send Pinocchio to school so he sold his only coat to send him to school.
Now Pinocchio was going to school like other children .One day, on his
way to school Pinocchio saw a puppet show in progress.
He longed to see it but the ticket cost four pence and Pinnocchio did
not have any money on him. Pinocchio sold his school books to get the
money and he went for the show.
All the while Pinocchio was lying to his father who loved him so much
an d one day he realised that his nose was growing and getting out of
shape. This alarmed Pinocchio but he knew he was paying for his sins and
regretted telling lies to Gepetto.
Pinocchio joined the puppets on stage and decided to stay with them.
Later, Giovanni the puppet master, a fearsome looking man, needed wood
for a fire. He chose Pinocchio as firewood. Pinocchio begged and pleaded
to be spared, telling him about his poor father. Giovanni gave Pinocchio
five gold coins to give his father to buy a coat.
Gratefully taking the coins, Pinocchio said goodbye to Giovanni and
his puppet friends and set off for home. And wanted to pay off his
father with the gold coins given to him by Giovanni. He realised that
Gepetto was a really good man. So ended the story of Pinnocchio the
wooden puppet.
