Selection Committee to meet soon

The Selection Committee of the Obsever-Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year contest will meet soon to finalise the selections for the most outstanding cricketers who will be picked on merit.

The performances of all schoolboy cricketers, competing under three divisions of the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association (SLSCA)-conducted Under-19 inter-school cricket tournaments will be closely evaluated by the Observer-Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer Selection Committee, which comprises officials of the SLSCA, Umpires Associations and a few national selectors of Sri Lanka Cricket.

Meanwhile, the last few weeks of voting continues in the 35th Obsever-Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year contests, conducted under the Platinum, Gold and Silver categories for Division 1, 11 and 111 schools.

The intense struggle between the first two candidates, Royal’s Milan Abeysekera and Thurstan’s Milhaj Jaleel is building as the gap between the two have narrowed to 118 votes in the Platinum Segment for schools playing in the SLSCA Division one tournament in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of The Year 2013 Contest at the end of the 16th week count.
