Selection Committee to meet soon
The Selection Committee of the Obsever-Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer of
the Year contest will meet soon to finalise the selections for the most
outstanding cricketers who will be picked on merit.
The performances of all schoolboy cricketers, competing under three
divisions of the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association (SLSCA)-conducted
Under-19 inter-school cricket tournaments will be closely evaluated by
the Observer-Mobitel Schoolboy Cricketer Selection Committee, which
comprises officials of the SLSCA, Umpires Associations and a few
national selectors of Sri Lanka Cricket.
Meanwhile, the last few weeks of voting continues in the 35th
Obsever-Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year contests,
conducted under the Platinum, Gold and Silver categories for Division 1,
11 and 111 schools.
The intense struggle between the first two candidates, Royal’s Milan
Abeysekera and Thurstan’s Milhaj Jaleel is building as the gap between
the two have narrowed to 118 votes in the Platinum Segment for schools
playing in the SLSCA Division one tournament in the Sunday
Observer/Mobitel Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of The Year 2013
Contest at the end of the 16th week count.
