Lanka, Vietnam bilateral ties strengthened
The second round of political consultations between Sri Lanka and
Vietnam was held recently in Hanoi.
Secretary, External Affairs Karunatilaka Amunugama led the Sri Lankan
delegation with the Sri Lankan Ambassador in Vietnam Dr. K.G. Ivan
Amarasinghe in attendance.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Nguyen Phuong Nga led
the Vietnamese delegation with Director General of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs in Vietnam Vuong Hai Nam in attendance.
The two sides discussed issues ranging from political to economic in
the regional and international fora, and resolved to work together in
pursuing their common goals of interest.
Both sides noted with appreciation the continued and steady growth of
bilateral relations between the two countries in recent years and high
level interactions between the State leaders through reciprocal visits
which had given the impetus to strengthen and consolidate the existing
ties.
The third session of the Joint Commission between the two countries
held on July 2012 had been a catalyst in identifying areas for
co-operation with a contemporary relevance.
