Japanese Cultural Exhibition from Aug 31- Sept 1
A Japanese Cultural Exhibition will be held at the Harold Peiris
Gallery, Lionel Wendt, Colombo 7 from August 31 to September 1.
The exhibition has been organised by the Embassy of Japan and the
Japanese Language Teachers' Association of Sri Lanka and will feature
Ikebana floral arrangements, bonsai plants, origami, as well as
demonstrations of the tea ceremony, Ikebana floral art, bonsai planting
and origami folding.
The exhibition will be open to the public on August 31 from 12.00
noon to 6.00 p.m. and on September 1 from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00.p.m.
Admission to the exhibition and demonstrations are free. Demonstrations
will be held as follows: Demonstrations: Origami - Aug 31 and Sept 1 -
1.00 p.m. to 2.00 p.m.
Ikebana - Aug 31 and Sept 1 - 2.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.
Bonsai - Aug 31 and Sept 1 - 4.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. Tea ceremony -
Sept 1 - 11.00 a.m.-12.00 noon
The exhibition is designed to display Japan's culture and lifestyle
and thereby enhance the friendly relations between the peoples of Japan
and Sri Lanka.
