All motorists should keep to their lanes on the highways without
obstructing other vehicles on the main highway.
If any person or motorist violates this rule of law he will be
prosecuted irrespective of his position, said City Traffic Director SP
Chula de Silva.
The Director said most motorists on the highways violate the rule of
law and obstruct other vehicles on the main road causing many problems
for traffic on the highways.
He said pedestrians should always use the yellow line to cross the
road without obstructing motorists on the highways. People on the
highways who do not abide by the rules have caused many accidents. de
Silva has instructed his staff to be vigilant and detect motorists who
violate traffic laws and charge them in court.
“We have taken this step to avoid accidents and deaths on the main
roads and have an accident free society”, said the City Traffic
Director.
He cautioned vehicle owners not to park their vehicles on the
pavements causing inconvenience to the public. If any vehicle is found
on pavements the owner will be prosecuted.
“I have received several complaints from the public that they have
been harassed by vehicle owners while parking their vehicles on
pavements. Sometimes the public have to walk on the main roads,” de
Silva said. |
