Indian Ladies clinch International Team Championship

India crushed Sri Lanka by the huge margin of 48 strokes to win the
International Team Championship for Ladies at the 126 Sri Lanka Amatuer
Golf Championship 2013 played at the Victoria Golf Course at Rajawella
off Kandy yesterday. This championship was organised by the Sri Lanka
Golf Union.
India aggregated 289 gross in the two rounds through its golfers
gauri Mongia and Millie Sarcha. Sri Lanka's reply was a total of 337
gross through Rasika Ekanayake and Nillo Jayatillake.
Gauri Mongia who played at Victoria two years ago was in sparking
form getting a one under par 72 in the first round and put up a similar
performance in the second round. Her partner Millie scored a one under
72 in the first round and followed up with 73 in the second round.
It was a disappointing display by the Sri Lanka's pair of Rasika
Ekanayake and Niloo Jayatillake both regular golfers at Victoria Golf
course.
Rasika Ekanayake scored 82 in the first round and did slightly better
in the second getting 80 gross. Niloo Jayatillake a top performer at
Victoria getting some excellent score in the past performed below best
to get 89 gross and 86 gross for the Indian to win with comfort. |
