Wimalasiri and P.Abeywickrema the best athletes among men and women

Athletics: D. Wimalasiri and P. Abeywickrema emerged best athletes
for men and women at the Central Province District Athletic
Championships held over the week-end at the Bogambara Stadium.
In he men's Long Jump, Wimalasiri went to a distance of 7.13 metres
in the men's Long Jump while in the women's 100 metres, P. Abeywickrema
was timed at 12.05 in the 100 metres.
Kandy District won the Overall Championship (men and women)
collecting 171 points while Nuwara Eliya District came second collecting
83 points.Kandy District won at Basketball, Netball, Elle and Table
Tennis, while Kabaddi competition was won by Nuwara Eliya District and
the hockey competition was won by Matale District.
Governor of Central Province Tikiri Kobbekaduwa was the chief guest
while the Guest of Honour was G.A. Kandy Gamini Seneviratne.
