Berty Premalal’s funeral tomorrow

The cremation of former North Central Province Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake will take place at Walisingha Harischandra Stadium, Anuradhapura tomorrow at 3.00 pm. Cortege leaves residence at 2.00pm.

He passed away at a private hospital in Colombo on Friday at the age of 59. Dissanayake was the Chief Minister of the North Central Province from June 1999 to 2012. He entered politics as the Secretary of the SLFP-held Habarana Town Council in 1972.

He first entered Parliament contesting the 1989 Parliamentary election from the Anuradhapura district and was appointed Industries Deputy Minister in 1994 and Social Services Minister in 1997. The Remains lie at “Senasuma”, Airport Road, Anuradhapura.
