More than 500 villagers of Imbulgoda in Akuressa including this
octogenarian have to make this hazardous crossing across the Digiliya
canal daily to attend to their daily needs or make a five kilo meter
detour.
The Digiliya canal originating in Indiyagala is a tributary of the
Nilwala river. Villagers allege that the foundations laid and columns
raised for the eight-foot wide permanent crossing which would have
replaced this hazardous foot bridge has been abandoned simply because it
was originated by S L Sunil the ex chairman of the Akuressa Pradeshiya
Sabha. |
