Sri Lanka meets Japan on Monday in Asian VB tourney
The National Volleyball team left for Dubai, on Friday to participate
at the 17th Asian Men's Volleyball Championships which started yesterday
nd goes on till October 6 in the United Arab Emirates.
Twenty four teams in the Asian region will take part in the
tournament and the teams have been placed in eight groups. Sri Lanka is
in group 'E' along with Japan and Oman. They were to meet Oman in their
first match yesterday and Japan on September 30. Both matches will be
played at the Al-Azar Stadium, in Dubai.
The Lankan team will be skippered by Janitha Surath and the other
players are Deepthi Romesh, Pramesh Prasanna, Sameera Prageeth, Gayan
Madusanka, Hiranya Kesala , R.H.Dissanayake, Shamil Malinda, Chanaka
Madusanka, S.A.N.Sanjaya, Maurice Chaminda Perera, A.W.Lakmal.Coach

The other participating countries are. Host UAE, Jordon, Thailand,
Australia, Bahrain, Myanmar, Kuwait, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Saudi
Arabia, Chinese Taipei , Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Qatar, India,
Uzbekistan, Pakistan and Libya.
