Yesterday is gone;
Unknown tomorrow is not there yet:
Casa Serena Art Gallery conducted an art workshop on October 4 for
children suffering from cancer . The workshop was held at the National
Cancer Hospital, Maharagama. "Yesterday is gone; unknown tomorrow is not
there yet," this is what came to my mind. I wanted to make their present
moment happy. I am glad through the Casa Serena Art Gallery I was able
to do that. Some of our volunteers hide their tears and smiles with
these children to make them happy.
Kind and compassionate Gallery friends voluntarily brought plenty of
art books, paint and paint brushes and without any boundaries and
limitations these children were given an opportunity to express their
beautiful thoughts. It was such a wonderful moment where they forgot all
the pain and grief that they were going through.
Art is a type of meditation and is a soothing therapy. As an artist
and a Gallery owner I wanted to do Gallery activities in different
pathways, which would benefit the society. Even in the erly years that's
what our artists did".
Many children afflicted with cancer were given an opportunity to
celebrate their thoughts when the Casa Serena Art Gallery organised the
workshop. Some children jumped at the chance and were seen painting
their cares away. Some of them were rather serene while expressing their
thoughts through art. They took it as a once in a lifetime opportunity
to express their feelings. The weaker patients were just happy watching
the other children engrossed in their painting. All in all, it was an
enjoyable time for these children as no one knows what the future holds
for them.
