Full support from SLMC for CHOGM

The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) fully supports the upcoming Commonwealth Summit and believes that all political parties and people of all communities would extend their support for its outstanding success because it is a god-send opportunity towards realising our goal of "Wonder of Asia", Naseer Ahamed, party Deputy Leader and Eastern PC Minister of Agriculture, Animal Production and Development, Rural Industrial Development, Fisheries and Tourism told the Sunday Observer. Every patriotic citizen of the country should contribute his share for the success of the summit instead of making remarks against hosting this international event, he said.

The declaring opening of the Colombo-Katunayake Expressway today by President Mahinda Rajapaksa is also a landmark event in the history of road network of this country, he said.

Aside from Heads of Government of the Commonwealth member nations, several other world nations would be present at the Summit looking for investment opportunities, for promoting bilateral trade, tourism and other interactions. The Eastern Province which is lagging behind economically in spite of its vast investment avenues will also be benefited, PC Minister Ahamed said.
